The present study aimed to compare the effectiveness of acceptance/commitment therapy (ACT) and affect regulation training (ART) on emotional dysregulation and depression in people with epilepsy. This semi-experimental study was conducted with a pretest-posttest design with control group and 2 month follow-up. By convenience sampling 45 of these people were selected and randomly assignment in the 2 experiment groups and 1 control group. The emotion regulation scale and depression Inventory was performed in the pre-test. Then, ACT was performed with experimental group 1 and ART with experimental group 2 as a group and 8 sessions of 90 minutes and one session every week. After the end of the training, the post-test was conducted on all participants, with an interval of one week. Then two months later, the follow–up test.The obtained data were analyzed through the analysis of variance with repeated measures and Bonferroni post hoc test. The results showed that both interventions in post-test and follow up had a significant effect on emotional dysregulation and depression and affect regulation training is more effective in emotional dysregulation and depression. Based on the results of the present study, it can be said that affect regulation training and acceptance/commitment therapy can be used as a treatment methods to on emotional dysregulation and depression in counseling centers in the treatment of in people with epilepsy and priority of use is with affect regulation training.
