The purpose of this research was to compare the emotional intelligence components in addicted and non addicted men. Also to verify the impact of the trainin program based on emotional intelligence components on the addicted group. The following hypotheses were verified. 1-The addicted men score lower than non addicted in total score of Emotional Intelligence, and each of it, s components. 2- The training of skills based on the emotional intelligence components and cognitive therapy can be effective for addicted men. This research was composed of two parts or stages. In the first part 200 men (addicted and non addicted) were randomly selected and responded to Bar- On emotional quotient inventory: short from (2002). In the second part, 16 men were chosen from the sample of 100 addicted men, and were placed in two groups of experimental and control. Their emotional intelligence was assessed again.The experimental group participated in the training and therapy program of 10 sessions. At the end the emotional intelligence of both groups was assessed once again. The first hypothesis was verified by independent t test. Results showed significant differences between addicted and non addicted men regarding their total emotional intelligence and each of it's components;the addicted samples scored in a lower level than the non addicted samples. The second hypothesis was verified by t test for non independent samples. The effectiveness of the training and therapy program for promoting all components of the emotional intelligence, except the stress management, was confirmed. Regarding the effectiveness of this program for addicted men, it can be concluded that the training and therapy program developed in This study can be useful for promoting well being and helping the addicted men to maintain their withdrawal.
