The primary purpose of the present study was to examine the relationship between identity styles and adaptation Among freshmen students. A parallel aim was to examine the discriminatory power identity commitment and gender. In order to conduct the research 332(182 female and 150 male) Among college Freshmen were randomly selected from Uromia University first year students. The Identity Style Inventory with Six Grade (ISI-G6) and Student Adaptation with College Questionnaire (SACQ) were Administered. To analyze the data t-test for independent groups and hierarchical regression (step by step) were used. The results showed that identity styles could successfully explain and predict. In addition, gender variable could meaningfully anticipate academic, social, personal-emotional adaptation and aggregate score. But, gender couldnۥt anticipate attachment to college. Identity commitment was a good predictor of adaptation to college and its various components.
