Given the increasing trend of cosmetic surgery in Iran and the role of psychological factors in this inclination, the present study aimed to investigate the prediction of body image concern based on self-objectification and rumination, with the mediating role of self-esteem, among women seeking cosmetic surgery. The research method was descriptive-correlational, and the statistical population consisted of all women seeking cosmetic surgeries who referred to beauty clinics in Kerman in 2024. According to Hooman’s guidelines in structural equation modeling methodology, 300 individuals were selected using convenience sampling. The instruments included the Body Image Concern Inventory by Littleton et al., the Objectified Body Consciousness Scale by McKinley and Hyde, the Rumination Response Scale by Nolen-Hoeksema and Morrow, and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale. The data were analyzed using path analysis. The results showed that self-objectification, rumination, and self-esteem predict body image concern. Furthermore, self-objectification and rumination influence body image concern through the mediating role of self-esteem. Therefore, these findings can provide a basis for designing psychological interventions aimed at promoting self-esteem and reducing self-objectification and rumination, in order to reduce body image concern in this group of women.
