Investigating psychological Emotional Harms of Unsuccessful Marriage in Women and Determining the Effectiveness of Treatment based on Acceptance and Commitment on It

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the Psychological and Emotional Harms in women and to determine the effectiveness of treatment based on Mindfulness, Acceptance, and Schemas Awareness on it. The research method was mixed. In the qualitative phase, 16 women with the experience of an unwanted and early marriage were selected. The population included all women who experienced an unwanted and early marriage in Ahvaz city. The tool used in the qualitative part was a semi-structured interview and the quantitative part was the Mesbah's Psychological Emotional Assessment Scale. Data analysis was done in the qualitative part using thematic analysis and in the quantitative part using variance analysis with repeated measurements. The findings of the qualitative part included the identification of 6 main themes (anxiety, depression, inadequacy, pessimism and mistrust, internalized shame, and emotional void). The findings of the quantitative section showed that group intervention effectively improves the psychological and emotional harms of marriage. Therapists can take advantage of Treatment based on Acceptance and Commitment (Using Mindfulness, Acceptance, and Awareness of Schemes) to improve marriage problems.
