Abstract

Abstract
The aim of this research was to investigate the role of worry, emotional schemas and brain-behavioral systems (BIS-BAS) in prediction of obsessive beliefs. in a correlation design, 152 undergraduate students of kharazmi University of karaj (81 girl students and 71 boy students) of the age range of 18 to 22 years were selected through available non-probability sampling and completed penn State worry questionnaire, carver and white brain-behavioral systems questionnaire, emotional schema scale and obsessive beliefs questionnaire. In order to analyze of data, Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression were used. The results showed that there was a significant positive correlation between worry and brain-behavioral systems with adolescents’ obsessive beliefs. The results also showed that there was a significant relationship between most components of emotional schemas with adolescents’ obsessive beliefs. Moreover, the regression results showed that predictor variables in current study could explain the 41/4 percent of the changes in obsessive beliefs variable. According to the results of this study can be said that high levels of worry and using of maladaptive emotional schemas in people who have high levels of brain-behavioral systems activity, can predict their tendency towards obsessive beliefs.
