Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the psychometric of a Persian version of Kampen’s Four-Dimensions Personality Test (4DPT). A sample of 315 university students with ago range of 18-26 years-old were selected, using cluster random sampling and were asked them to fill two questionnaires (4DPT and EPQ-RS). 4DPT is a questionnaire with 64 questions that evaluates four personality dimensions: N (Neuroticism), E (Extraversion), S (Insensitivity), G (Orderliness). This questionnaire was constructed in 1977 and translated to Persian by researcher and was analyzed for the first time in Iran. The results of this questionnaire were compared with EPQ-RS (Eysenck’s Personality Questionnaire) and its reliability was measured by internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha coefficient). The result of alpha coefficient (total & each scale alpha coefficients) showed the relative reliability of questions in measured characters. N factor (neuroticism) was the highest reliability among scales. The validity of the test was estimated by factor analysis and investigating of the correlation between 4DPT and EPQ-RS. E and N dimensions had the highest correlation; while the S and G dimensions had not significant correlation. The results of main factors analysis with varimax-rotated confirmed the high reliability of scales.
