Abstract

The purpose of the present study was a comparison of the Effectiveness of Mindfulness based cognitive therapy and Metacognitive therapy on depressive symptoms, positive and negative beliefs about rumination and experiential avoidance. Quasi-experimental method with pre-test - post-test was used. To achieve this goal, the students were invited to attend group therapy sessions.28 individuals with depressive symptoms were selected according to BDI cut off point (10-28) and were randomly divided in to two groups: mindfulness based cognitive therapy (15) and metacognitive therapy (13). Beck depression inventory (beck), positive beliefs about rumination (papageorgiou &wells),negative beliefs about rumination scale (papageorgiou ,wells & mina,2008) and acceptance and action questionnaire (bond, et. al.,) were administered pre-treatment and post-treatment to all subjects.
