The Study of relationship between social achievement goals and communication skills in University Students

Abstract

This research was conducted to study the relationship between social achievement goals and communication skills in university students. The subjects were 180 undergraduate students, consists of 54 males and 126 females, selected from Literature Department of Tabriz University. Data was gathered through communication skills test - revised and social achievement goal orientation survey (SAGOS). Data were analyzed by multiple regressions (stepwise). The results showed that social mastery goal orientation and social performance-approach goal orientation were important predictive factors of students’ communication skills. Also it was found that 12% of the variance of communication skills was accounted by linear combination of social mastery goal orientation and social performance-approach goal orientation.
