The present study was conducted to examine the relationship between private speech and creativity among 4-6 years old children. Subjects were 111 children (55 boys and 56 girls) who were selected through multi-stage sampling method from private preschool centers in Tehran. Creativity was measured by the TCAM. Children’s private speech was classified according to a modified schema by manning in which the categories were: task-irrelevant speech, non-facilitative task relevant speech, coping/reinforcing speech, solving speech. Data were analyzed by chi-square test. Results showed no significant gender differences in private speech. But, boys showed higher score on creativity. It seems, other variables except of private speech affected the creativity.
